In the next two weeks, food products such as milk, meat and eggs will experience a significant increase in price in Ukraine. This is a seasonal increase in price and is associated with preparations for Easter.

This is described in a story prepared by journalists from Mariupol TV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

There are still a little more than two weeks until Easter, and Mariupol residents are already starting to prepare for the festive table, as food prices are expected to rise sharply in the very near future.

According to economists, preparing the table for Easter in 2018 will cost Ukrainians 25% more than last year.

At the moment, one of the most important products - meat - has already become so expensive that not everyone can afford it.

“People can’t afford meat, because it costs 120-140 hryvnia. They sell ribs and brisket well, they cost 85 hryvnia,” said Natalya, a meat seller.

“Everything has already become more expensive. The butcher said that starting Friday all products will rise in price by 30-40 hryvnia,” says buyer Elena.

Ordinary buyers also try to purchase chicken eggs as soon as possible, as they are sure that the price for them will also increase several times.

“I don’t know what it’s like about raising prices in the future, but I see them rising now,” said another customer surveyed.

Other Mariupol residents agreed with her.

It should be noted that the leader in price increases is milk, the price of which has more than doubled compared to 2015. Chicken eggs are the second most expensive. In third place is meat, which has risen in price by 2015 hryvnia per kilogram compared to 68.
