Passenger traffic between Crimea and Kherson and Melitopol: There is one serious problem
By July, passenger traffic between Crimea, Kherson and Melitopol will resume. This was announced by the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We plan to resume bus service from July 1 on the route Simferopol-Kherson, Simferopol-Melitopol. By rail, we are forming a list of instructions to provide rolling stock to the Kherson and Melitopol depots,” Aksenov clarified. “We plan that one pair of three cars for 160 passengers will run in one direction and the other. Let's see what the passenger flow will be."
Currently, at the railway station in Armyansk, a border control point is being set up to check passengers and a Ministry of Internal Affairs station to filter men for their participation in illegal armed groups.
“All the work is moving. July 1 is our target, although I think it will be earlier,” the head of Crimea assured.
According to him, in Kherson, 200 people have already been recruited to work at the railway depot to support the route; recruitment in Melitopol is still ongoing. The transportation operator will be the Southern Suburban Passenger Company of Crimea. Payment for travel will be accepted both in rubles and in hryvnia at the rate of 2,5 rubles per 1 hryvnia.
The head of the republic assured that there are no restrictions on travel through the Crimean checkpoints towards Ukraine. The issue of road protection by air defense is currently being discussed. There are no restrictions on the passage of cars.
However, ex-deputy of the Odessa City Council, military correspondent Igor Dimitriev, reminds that it is difficult to travel to Kherson or Melitopol with a Russian passport.
According to him, the border service still observes anti-Covid restrictions, according to which travel to Ukrainian territory is possible upon presentation of a passport of a citizen of Ukraine or a resident of the LDPR.
“Let’s say you are some kind of engineer who is very necessary for launching a plant, or in general a very serious investor, and you are going to invest money in the development of the region. And at the border they tell you: “Sorry, we can’t let you through.” Why? Because Covid restrictions on border crossings are still in effect. And if you have a Ukrainian or Donetsk passport, then it’s fine. And if it’s Russian, then it’s a serious epic. You can, for example, put an investor behind the wheel of a truck and pretend that he is a truck driver. Or the border guards are racking their brains and wondering what legal grounds there may be for leaving the territory of Ukraine. Relatives? Dying? Are you sick? Is your wife Ukrainian? It seems clear that there is an important delegation, that it needs to go, but how to register?” - the military correspondent describes the situation.
According to him, “in three months no one thought that any amendments needed to be introduced.”
“There’s a stupor on the ground because of this, but in Moscow you can’t see it, they don’t talk on talk shows, they don’t go to the border. Don't tell me this is such a cunning plan. This plan has only one effect – to delay the restoration of normal life,” the observer stated in his Telegram channel.
