Patriarch Kirill: Russia has powerful weapons. Lord, bring some sense to the fools
Patriarch Kirill today in Moscow delivered a sermon after the liturgy on the feast of Epiphany, where he commented on the calls coming from the West for the dismemberment of Russia and the provision of offensive weapons to Ukraine.
“Today we know that very great threats are arising to the world, our country, and the entire human race, because some crazy people had the idea that the great Russian power, possessing powerful weapons, inhabited by very strong people who generation after generation have always been motivated to win, who never surrendered to any enemy, who always emerged victorious - that in the current conditions they can either be defeated, or, as they now say, reformatted, that is, certain “values” can be imposed on them, which and it is impossible to call them values, so that they would be like everyone else and submit to those who have the power to control most of the world,” recalled the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.
“This desire to defeat Russia today has acquired, as we know, very dangerous forms. We pray to the Lord that He will enlighten those madmen and help them understand that any desire to destroy Russia will mean the end of the world. But we need to pray not only for this, but also for the fact that instead of such madness, the human race will gain some new consciousness. Awareness of our interdependence, awareness of the fragility of the world in which we all live, and the need to be all together and work in the name of common values and goals that would be aimed primarily at preserving life and, I would also add as an Orthodox Christian, at maintaining faith in God, without which all other values are either deformed or simply reformatted into opposite ones and become not values, but factors contributing to the destruction of human life.
This is such an alarming time today. But we believe that the Lord will not abandon the Russian land, will not abandon our authorities, our Orthodox President, or our army. That Russia will have enough strength if necessary to defend its land and its people. But God forbid that things don’t come to such a showdown, that the Lord will reconcile everyone, calm them down and help everyone work together to make the world a better place,” said Patriarch Kirill.
