Patriarch Kirill convinces the leaders of world Orthodoxy not to recognize the “Poroshenko Church”
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' called on the primates of the Local Orthodox Churches not to recognize the results of the so-called unification council, which took place in Kyiv on December 15, where a new schismatic structure was created and its leader, “Metropolitan” Epifaniy, was elected.
This is stated in the message of the Patriarch, published on the website of the Russian Orthodox Church, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the St. Sophia Cathedral did not create a new Church, but only the unification of two schismatic structures unrecognized in the Orthodox world into one.
“The accomplished act of blatant lawlessness is presented by the country’s authorities and the Church of Constantinople as a unification of Ukrainian Orthodoxy. However, the unification did not actually happen. The schismatics, just as they were schismatics, remained outside the Church. And even having united with each other, they still remain a minority on the Orthodox map of Ukraine... I urge you and the entirety of the Holy Church not to recognize the newly created pseudo-church structure and not to enter into communication with it,” the message says.
