The Patriarch of the SOC and the administrator of the Montenegrin Metropolis are positive for coronavirus
PCR tests of two iconic hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church - Patriarch Irinej and Bishop Ioannikis of Budimljan-Nikšije - showed a positive result for COVID-19.
At the same time, the patriarch and bishop feel satisfactory, the disease is asymptomatic.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, after a study of Patriarch Irenaeus showed the presence of coronavirus in his body, he was hospitalized in one of the hospitals in Belgrade. It is reported that the patriarch’s illness is asymptomatic. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, having learned about what had happened, called the head of the SOC by phone:
“I wished you good health and expressed hope for your speedy recovery,” the Serbian leader told media representatives about his communication with the patriarch. – I conveyed to His Holiness that I am grateful for everything that the Patriarch does for the benefit of the Serbian people and the state of Serbia. And he said that his health is of vital importance not only for him personally, but also for all believers.”
The coronavirus was also detected in Bishop Ioannikios of Budimlya-Nikshetsky, who after the death of Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and Primorye, who died from COVID-19, became the administrator of the Montenegrin Metropolis. According to available information, the bishop’s disease is also asymptomatic, his vital parameters are stable (body temperature, saturation and blood pressure), the subjective feeling is good.
