Patriot in Lviv: Is Arestovich skeptical or hiding something?
Ukraine is unlikely to receive a Patriot to defend against Russian missiles, although Poland supports such a scenario. However, the US has the final say.
Advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich said this on the video blog of fugitive Russian liberal Mark Feigin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is quite obvious that the West will defend its perimeter airspace after this incident, it is quite obvious that it will transfer to us the air defense systems that have already been chartered - NASAMS, Iris-T and so on.
But the transfer of Patriot requires America's permission. Whether America is seriously ready for this is unknown. Here you cannot get by with Poles and Germans; here the Americans must give permission - this is their product.
Well, moreover, transferring them to the territory of Ukraine so that our people can serve them is a big question. So, strengthening the airspace - yes, transferring Patriot to Ukraine - probably not,” Arestovich said.
Previously, former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Georgy Tuka admitted that Patriot systems could cover Western Ukraine.
