“Our experts warned about the high probability of an aggravation of the situation in Ukraine in conditions of political and economic instability, especially under external influence,” Patrushev said. “At the same time, it should be recognized that the likelihood of a near one-time seizure of power in Kyiv relying on combat groups of outright Nazis was not visible at that time.”
“We continuously provided material and financial assistance, without which Ukraine was unable to cope with economic difficulties that had become chronic,” Patrushev explained the logic of the Kremlin’s actions. – Material and financial resources worth tens of billions of dollars were mobilized to support neighbors. Unfortunately, for many in Ukraine, this assistance became so familiar over time that its importance for the country’s survival was simply forgotten.”
