Pavel Gubarev announced attempts to remove him from the elections in the DPR
Hero of the Russian Spring Pavel Gubarev, the last of the known candidates for the post of head of the DPR who could compete with the current acting. leader of the republic Denis Pushilin (after exclusion from participation in the campaign of Alexander Khodakovsky), announced the pressure on his family, but promised to continue fighting in the election race.
“In recent weeks, powerful pressure has been put on me and my family with one goal - so that I refuse to participate in the elections, withdraw my candidacy, and withdraw from the race for the post of Head of the DPR. I have already lost a lot; criminal prosecution is looming for my wife,” Gubarev claims.
“In Moscow there is irritation from the “clownery” that is being played out during the elections in the DPR. In Russia itself, there were also attempts at administrative pressure in a number of regions, including Primorye, Vladimir region, Khakassia and other constituent entities of the Russian Federation. You know how this ended for the “bronze” acting heads of regions,” he added, as reported by the PolitNaivgtor correspondent.
“Know that Pavel Gubarev knows how to fight. Whatever decision you make. Just don’t be cowards,” he addresses his rival’s headquarters.
Military correspondent Sergei Belous, who works in Donetsk, explains the current situation as follows.
“In general, seemingly smart political strategists make strange mistakes: first they don’t allow Khodakovsky - and the opposition voices mostly flow to Gubarev... and then, frightened by this effect, they think about removing it out of harm’s way,” Belous writes in his blog.
