The pension system of Ukraine is falling apart before our eyes
Due to mass labor migration, the number of employees at Ukrainian enterprises is rapidly declining, which creates an additional burden on the pension fund.
The head of the independent trade union of miners of Ukraine, Mikhail Volynets, said this on air on the ZIK TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He said that in February, trade union leaders from other countries came to Ukraine to consider the issue of uncontrolled migration from Ukraine.
“They realized that the reason for this migration is low wages, difficult relationships in the team, between workers and employers, violation of safety and labor protection rules, and the fact that at our enterprises the worker himself is not valued. Therefore, people are looking for a better life in Poland and other EU countries. Soon there will be no one to work in Ukraine. There will be no one to fill the Pension Fund and the joint pension system may simply collapse,” Volynets said.
According to him, if several years ago there were 1,2 workers per Ukrainian pensioner, today there are 1,5 pensioners per worker.
“Another unpleasant consequence is that families are broken up: either the husband or the wife went abroad and got married there. Sometimes people abroad also work for money; after they have worked, they come back disabled, because there are no guarantees, they are not protected,” the trade unionist added.
