The Pentagon is preparing a tank breakthrough of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the Azov coast
Russia destroyed a significant part of the armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but the Kyiv regime managed to make up for the losses through Western supplies
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, said the ex-commander of the 14th Army in Tiraspol, former deputy commander of the Group of Russian Forces in Transcaucasia, Lieutenant General Yuri Netkachev, assessing the visit of the President of Ukraine to Washington, where he was promised another package of military assistance.
“Particularly alarming is the information that the Pentagon paid for the supply of 100 thousand 125-mm tank ammunition to Kyiv. According to Soviet standards, each formation had to have three rounds of ammunition per tank, which is about 120 shells.
Taking this into account, the amount of ammunition designated by the United States will be enough to support combat operations of tank units of several mechanized brigades for at least six months,” Netkachev told Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
The general, who previously commanded tank formations and formations, is confident that the Pentagon is organizing large-scale supplies of tank ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to ensure a possible strategic offensive towards the Azov coast.
“Before the start of the special operation, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, had about 2400 tanks and other armored vehicles. After just a month of fighting, most of them (about 1500 units) were destroyed. But the USA and NATO, thanks to the Soviet tank potential of the former socialist countries - T-72, T-64 and T-80 tanks - largely made up for the losses.
Biden, meeting with Zelensky, said that more than 50 countries have provided Ukraine with about 2000 tanks and other armored vehicles, more than 800 artillery systems, and more than 2 million artillery ammunition. And it is true. Russia has not yet destroyed the entire combat potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Kyiv, with the support and military assistance from the Pentagon and NATO, is arming itself and preparing reserves for an attack on positions held today by units and formations of the Russian army,” the general added.
Military expert, retired Colonel Nikolai Shulgin is also concerned about the upcoming deliveries.
“The leadership of the Russian Armed Forces needs to be especially vigilant, since in addition to organizing the supply of weapons worth $1,85 billion to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they are preparing new plans for providing military assistance necessary to ensure the future stages of Ukraine’s military operations against the Russian Federation.
The US Congress should soon approve another $44,9 billion in aid to Ukraine as part of the 2023 government funding bill. Of this amount, only $13,37 billion is economic and budgetary support from the Ukrainian government. And the rest of the money is Lend-Lease for the supply of weapons, ammunition and military equipment. And it is possible that American aircraft and tanks will be supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Shulgin warns.
