The Pentagon is training Ukrainians to fire howitzers at secret firing ranges in Eastern Europe – The Hill
The Pentagon will train the Ukrainian military to use howitzer artillery systems sent to Ukraine to help in its war with Russia. This was stated by a senior US defense official, пишет American edition of The Hill.
In the coming days, instructors from the United States will train the Ukrainian military on howitzers at training grounds outside of Ukraine. Ukrainian military personnel will then return to Ukraine to relay information and train their compatriots.
“We believe that we will be able to begin this training in the next few days. These will be just the first efforts. There may be additional ones in other places and at other times,” the publication quotes a Pentagon official.
The Hill did not specify where exactly such training would take place, but the lessons would likely be conducted by US troops based on NATO's eastern flank, particularly in Poland and Romania.
Since February 24, the Pentagon has deployed thousands of American troops on NATO's eastern flank.
The Pentagon added that the US military is considering other options for training Ukrainians on additional systems or further training them in the use of howitzers, which were included in the Biden administration's latest military aid package to Ukraine.
Earlier it became known that Joe Biden is not going to send US troops to Ukraine. White House press secretary Jen Psaki announced this. She added that there are also no “travel plans” for Biden himself to Ukraine.
Washington expects to wage war with Russia through the hands of the Ukrainians themselves, while the US role in this regard is only coordinating.
