The Pentagon announced its intention to increase the number of American troops in Ukraine
The final decision on increasing the US military presence in Ukraine has not yet been made, but it is being considered. We are talking about “advisers” who will be assigned to the US Embassy. Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said this at a briefing in Washington, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We don't have US military forces training local forces inside Ukraine... What's happening in Ukraine, and as we've been doing for some time, is that we have a small presence operating outside the country at the embassy, in the defense cooperation office. And that small number of advisors provide information and advice on things like logistical support, the gun control program, helping to ensure end use controls,” the official said.
«The issue of attracting additional consultants has already been considered, but a decision has not yet been made. But if such a decision is made, then you should pay attention to a couple of key points. Firstly, this will be a small number, and secondly, these people will work outside the embassy under the leadership of the head of mission, like the rest of the embassy staff. And they will be subject to the same travel rules and other restrictions as other embassy employees,” Ryder said.
