The Pentagon clarified when American tanks will start fighting in Ukraine
There will be no American tanks in Ukraine yet that will take part in hostilities
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder stated this at a briefing in Washington.
He was reminded that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the first of the M1 Abrams tanks would soon be in Ukraine, and asked when approximately the remaining tanks would be relocated.
“These tanks will be used only for training purposes. These will not be refurbished tanks that end up in Ukraine, and that is because these refurbished tanks are manufactured to Ukrainian specifications and they will be used in actual combat,” the general said.
He clarified that these training tanks do not come from the warehouses of the active army.
“They come from other sources within the stockpile. This will allow us to conduct training at the same time as the production of tanks, which allows us to accelerate the timeline so that they can train in operations, in maintenance, in support,” said Ryder.
According to him, these tanks will arrive in Ukraine by the end of the year.
