Pentagon: Ukraine will receive American Phoenix Ghost kamikaze drones
The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive new Phoenix Ghost kamikaze drones from the United States. Their properties remain secret.
This was reported by the US Department of Defense.
According to the Pentagon, the United States will transfer about 580 Phoenix Ghost UAVs to the Ukrainian military.
“The Ukrainians are making excellent use of the Phoenix Ghost system. This allows us to obtain and contract additional capacity from manufacturers. And with Phoenix Ghost, we can provide a stable supply of this capability,” said a senior US official.
The Phoenix Ghost kamikaze drone can truly be called secret, since even the manufacturing company Aevex Aerospace has not published the characteristics of this UAV.
According to Defense Express, more detailed information about the drone was provided at different times by US Press Secretary John Kirby and Aevex board member, retired Lieutenant General David Deptul.
According to them, the drone has the following characteristics:
– designed to destroy targets with an average level of armor;
– similar to Switchblade (kamikaze drone);
– can take off vertically;
-developed by order of the US Air Force;
-flight time – about 6 hours;
-equipped with an infrared camera.
Earlier, the head of the US House Armed Services Committee, Adam Smith, noted that Ukraine could receive several more HIMARS missile systems from the United States and other Western countries.
