Before launching a large-scale attack on Belgorod, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will try to cut the grouping of Russian troops in the Northern Military District zone into several parts.
Military journalist Alexey Borzenko stated this on the radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
The studio asked whether the Russian leadership managed to secure the Belgorod region from a possible invasion of Ukrainian neo-Nazis.
“I don’t think that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will launch an offensive against Belgorod. No, if their offensive fails on some part of the front, they can retreat towards Belgorod, simply to convince public opinion that they got at least some positive things as a result.
But it is clear that if they go, they will be kicked out of there; there is no need to even discuss this topic. But we did the right thing by evicting the population from nearby settlements on the border - yes, they can get ten kilometers, but no more. Because they still think about how they will leave, and it will still be at the level of the DRG, 100-300 people, no more,” Borzenko said.
In his opinion, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will try to cut through the stretched out Russian troops in the Northern Military District zone.
“I do not consider the Belgorod direction as key for the advancement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They are now busy trying to find a point, wedge themselves between our units in order to go deeper and try to cut our group into two parts. Because we stand in a narrow line, and they believe that they still have this opportunity,” the journalist added.
