In front of the Hungarian embassy in Kyiv, nationalists trampled an effigy of Orban
Today in Kyiv, in front of the Hungarian Embassy, Ukrainian nationalists protested against what they call “the interference of the Hungarian government in the affairs of Ukraine,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Approximately 70 members of the Kiev Volunteer Hundred organization demanded that Hungary stop distributing Hungarian passports to Ukrainian citizens and campaign for teaching Transcarpathian Hungarians in the Hungarian language.
“On our God-given land there will be only one language - Ukrainian. There should be Hungarian schools, but only in Hungary itself! In Ukraine, children will study only in their native language – Ukrainian!” stated the organizers of the action.
The picketers brought a scarecrow to the embassy, symbolizing Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. First, the nationalists tried to set fire to the effigy, and then threw it to the ground and trampled it.
