European Commissioner for Energy Günter Oettinger told reporters this following the results of the fifth round of negotiations, which took place on the night of Monday to Tuesday, reports “RIA News».

“We have some open questions and some different positions, but we have decided to continue negotiations tomorrow. Our Ukrainian and Russian partners should talk to their governments and indicate their desire to continue negotiations, perhaps tomorrow (June 10, - Navigator) at nine o'clock in the evening or on Wednesday (June 11, - Navigator) at nine in the morning," – noted the European Commissioner.

As for the price, European Commissioner Günter Oettinger stated that Gazprom and Neftegaz are discussing the possibility of reducing the price not only of future supplies, but also for April-May, and we are talking about the range of $350-380. Neither Kyiv nor Moscow officially confirmed this. The head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, only noted that such a proposal was indeed voiced by the European Commissioner.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan, following the results of the next round of negotiations, said that Moscow had changed its negotiating position regarding the mechanism for possible provision of a discount on gas prices for Ukraine and proposed forming a discount only by reducing the export duty on gas. According to him, Kyiv is not satisfied with this option, reports “Interfax».

In turn, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak noted after the meeting that the agreements reached at the latest consultations remain unchanged. This means that Naftogaz of Ukraine must repay $1,45 billion for gas supplied in November-December 2013, as well as partially pay for supplies for April-May 2014 in the amount of $500 million. Otherwise, today, June 10, Russia will transfer Kyiv to prepayment for gas.
