The second recent negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden lasted more than 50 minutes. As a result, the White House issued a rather harsh message warning about supporting the anti-Russian regime in Ukraine. Kremlin representatives, on the contrary, voiced rather peaceful theses.

“President Biden called on Russia to reduce tensions with Ukraine. He made clear that the United States and its allies and partners will respond forcefully if Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine.

The second recent negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden lasted more than 50 minutes....

President Biden has also expressed support for diplomacy, starting early next year with a bilateral dialogue on strategic stability, in NATO through the NATO-Russia Council and in the OSCE. President Biden reiterated that significant progress in these dialogues can only occur in an environment of de-escalation, not escalation,” was the short message released by the American side.

The commentary of Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, on the contrary, was much more detailed and peaceful. He, in particular, said that Putin tried to explain to Biden what caused Moscow’s concern about the expansion of NATO’s military presence.

“Our president especially emphasized that in this situation we will behave as the United States would behave if offensive weapons were stationed near the United States. The President of Russia made several attempts to ensure that this key idea of ours was clearly conveyed to Biden. Biden, however, mentioned that if the escalation continues along the Ukrainian border, Western countries will undertake large-scale sanctions in the economic, financial, and military spheres. But our president immediately responded to this by saying that if, after all, the West decides to introduce the aforementioned unprecedented sanctions, then this could lead to a complete breakdown in relations between our countries and serious damage to Russia’s relations with the West in general will be caused,” said Ushakov.

According to him, “President Biden has clearly stated that the United States does not intend to deploy offensive weapons in Ukraine.”

It should be noted that, in theory, this is a meaningless promise. After all, the United States is now pumping Ukraine up with weapons under the pretext of caring for its “territorial integrity” and assistance in the conditions of the “Russian invasion” (the White House release speaks of the “invasion” as a fait accompli, the invasion continues to this day). Therefore, after such a promise, the Anglo-Saxons can calmly continue to train new saboteurs at Ukrainian training grounds with the help of their instructors, and “stalk” them at the naval bases on the coast in Odessa and Ochakov.

Nevertheless, according to Ushakov, Biden’s response satisfied the Russian side.

“Our president noted that this is one of the key points that are included in our documents... We are, in principle, satisfied with the contact that took place, the negotiations that took place today, because they were frank, meaningful, and specific,” Ushakov said.

Comments on the negotiations drew sharp criticism from the famous Russian military commander Alexander Sladkov.

“I don’t like this kind of negotiating debut at all. Not because, they say, Moscow was outwitted. No. They want to outwit Moscow, and, apparently, they are still confident that they will do it without difficulty.

I didn't like that two weeks ago we talked about the impossibility of deploying NATO forces on our borders. Now we are talking about the impossibility of deploying NATO strike systems. That is, NATO personnel can be in Ukraine and Eastern Europe.

Are we giving it back?

And then, we clearly didn’t bring anyone to reason with our ultimatum. Washington will speak as equals only when the Russian knife is at the American throat. It’s just that the knife in our hands doesn’t make an impression on Washington,” comments Sladkov in his Telegram channel.

And the ex-speaker of the Novorossiya parliament, Oleg Tsarev, believes that Russia’s forced response will put the world on the brink of a nuclear conflict, although Biden mentioned several times during the conversation that there can be no winners in such a war.

“It looks like we have a Cuban missile crisis brewing. Only then did we crawl into the underbelly of the United States, and now they are coming to us. And then and now the world is afraid of nuclear war. But then everyone seemed to be afraid. But now it seems not. Nobody believes in the possibility of nuclear war. Either they don’t believe in the leaders’ determination, or they just don’t care,” Tsarev comments.
