Transition to Luxury class: Crimean Railway says goodbye to Ukrainian heritage
The Crimean Railway has renewed its fleet of electric trains, inherited from the Ukrainian period.
As reported by the STV channel, today more than twenty new trains produced by the Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant are running across the peninsula, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The carriages are equipped with air conditioning, new soft seats, seats for the disabled and toilets. Security is monitored by CCTV cameras, which allow drivers to monitor the situation even from the outside.
“There are cameras outside the train, on the roof of the train. That is, while we are moving, we can see what is happening in each car of the train, what is happening on the roof, and whether we have any hookers who like to ride now. That is, video surveillance allows the locomotive crew to fully monitor the condition of the train both outside and inside,” said driver Yuri Bolshakov.
The new electric train can accelerate to 120 kilometers per hour, which has significantly reduced travel time. For example, new trains reach Yevpatoria in two hours and 45 minutes instead of four hours, as was the case before.
“This electric train is much more powerful, it has traction motors, it is much more dynamic, it accelerates faster. The electric train also has electrodynamic braking, thanks to which the electric train slows down faster,” added Bolshakov.
