The most effective change in the SVO strategy at the moment would be a return to the full-scale use of aviation, as was the case at the very beginning of the special operation, and not demonstration explosions of a nuclear bomb at the test site on Novaya Zemlya.
Russian military expert Konstantin Sivkov stated this on Day TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“No one convinces the enemy of his determination to do something with any words, only with action, and this action must be convincing. Exploding a nuclear bomb on Novaya Zemlya will lead to nothing. Such an action in the current conditions can only be the defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Moreover, the most convincing action would be a change in strategy - a refusal to use our full-scale aviation.
We carried out such actions at the beginning of the Northern Military District, carried them out successfully, solved the problem of destroying the air defense system, destroyed 408 air defense systems, the appearance of 14 complexes does not change matters.
If there are still some air defense systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, well, a classic air offensive operation is being carried out, which suppresses all these systems and destroys the air defense system, as was done in Georgia, for example,” Sivkov recalled.
According to him, Russian aviation may well carry out strikes on Ukrainian territory without a serious risk of falling into the coverage area of Ukrainian air defense systems.
“Today, Russian aviation operates at a short distance, almost in the tactical defense zone, a little further than the artillery operates, this is very small.
They tell me that it is air defense, but I say again, the air defense is being destroyed.
As for MANPADS, yes, there are a lot of them, then the problem must be solved at altitudes that are higher than the limit for the use of MANPADS, 6-7 thousand meters. For this, there are high-precision ammunition and, finally, free-fall bombs, which allow you to strike stationary objects completely painlessly, without entering the air defense zone.
The problem is completely solvable,” the expert believes.
