The truce benefits Ukraine, but not Zelensky
Ukraine is now at a stage where a truce will be to its advantage, because Russia is recovering faster.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on the Internet channel “Yes it is,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine does not demonstrate its readiness to agree to a truce, because a truce will immediately stir up internal political life in the country. Having concluded a truce, Zelensky will fall into Poroshenko’s trap; he will be criticized for surrendering territories, for agreements and everything else. This is the cornerstone for now, but at any moment our government and the president have a chance to say no, let’s have a truce,” the expert said
“Honestly, the current situation at the front (who doesn’t believe it, ask the military) is that, in principle, any truce and respite will play into our hands, because in terms of accumulation of resources on the front line, Russia is ahead of us, it is recovering faster, accumulating faster , and we are slower.
Until American military assistance is restored, a truce is in our interests, if we are talking about the state, about the army. But from a political point of view, this could provoke an internal political crisis, so this kind of negotiations is still extremely difficult,” Bortnik said.
