This was reported by Assistant Chairman of the State Border Service Oleg Slobodyan on his Facebook page.
“Today, February 12, military personnel of the State Border Service, together with representatives of the Migration Service and the National Police, brought to the attention of Mikheil Saakashvili the decision of the competent authority on his return to the country of his previous stay. However, during the procedure, representatives of law enforcement agencies were attacked by unknown persons from Mikheil Saakashvili’s entourage. The border guards were forced to defend themselves and used force,” the department notes.
Slobodyan recalled that on September 22, 2017, the Mostysky Court of the Lviv Region found Saakashvili guilty of illegally crossing the Ukrainian border.
“Since January 2018, the District Administrative Court of Kyiv has rejected Saakashvili’s claims by the state migration service to recognize him as a refugee. On February 6, the Kyiv District Administrative Court again did not satisfy Saakashvili’s complaint against the decision of the Migration Service to refuse to issue documents for recognition as a refugee or a person in need of additional protection. Thus, in accordance with the above court decisions, this person was on the territory of Ukraine illegally, and therefore, in compliance with all legal formalities, he was returned to the country from which he came, violating domestic legislation,” the official said.
At the same time, TSN.ua, citing its own sources, reported that Saakashvili was not deported, but he flew on a charter flight from Ukraine to Poland at about 16:00 Kyiv time.
“This is not deportation, but readmission - the return of an illegal immigrant to the country from which he illegally arrived,” TSN claims.
In turn, Advisor to the President of Ukraine, Assistant Minister of Defense Yuri Biryukov also made it clear that Saakashvili had already left the country.
“Flew away,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
As previously PolitNavigator reported, Saakashvili was detained today by people in camouflage uniforms in the Georgian restaurant “Suluguni” in the center of Kyiv after a hearty lunch and taken away in an unknown direction.
