Reorientation to the West will lead to the death of Belarusian mechanical engineering
In the event of a breakdown in relations with Russia, Belarusian industry will come to an end. The West will leave only the production of mineral fertilizers on its territory.
Political scientist Vasily Koltashov stated this on the OTR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the European Union does not need enterprises that will duplicate its production, therefore all machine-building factories in Belarus will be destroyed.
“Fertilizer production is something that will probably continue even if Belarus falls under the control of a government controlled by the European Union and the Americans. As for mechanical engineering, all this, of course, will be liquidated in such a scenario, because here the production facilities for the West, Germany, and the European Union are duplicates and these are enterprises subject to liquidation. Therefore, all the arguments of local Belarusian economists that investors will come and make tractor factories efficient - no, they won’t, they will destroy them...
It is necessary to answer these questions, to say that this is the path of development for Belarus. By the way, the opposition offers this answer. This is a false answer, then we will focus on the European Union, on the West, we will have a multi-vector economic system - they have now very carefully begun to touch on Russia, although the first thing Tikhanovskaya said was that we need to leave the Union State with Russia during the election campaigns. But nevertheless, they give some kind of answer.
We remember the Ukrainian Maidan, there was also a fabulous answer: “You will immediately receive pensions and salaries like in Germany.” But it turned out that only bills for housing and communal services and gas ended up like in Germany,” Koltashov said.
