Trouble in the West: Russian refused to kneel
The hero of football battles – and the headlines of the English press – was the Russian referee Sergei Karasev. And not so much because he competently refereed the match between Manchester City and Borussia from Mönchengladbach, but because he stepped into forbidden territory. Karasev did not take a knee before the start of the match in the best traditions of Black Lives Matter.
This has happened before. For example, football player Zaha did not take a knee. The focus here is different - and the degree of resonance - is that previously it was mainly black football players who refused to observe the ritual, declaring that what was happening no longer resembled a struggle for equality. As the same Zaha said: “To defeat discrimination, we need to improve education.”
But then a shaven-headed white man refused to take a knee. Also from Russia. Which immediately logically caused a wave of the usual Russophobic comments. However, many - and this is interesting - supported Sergei Karasev.
The latter is especially noteworthy. After all, there are more and more people who deny both the ritual of taking a knee and the dominance of Black Lives Matter as such. And Karasev is a great fellow for reminding us of the senselessness of what is happening.
After all, firstly, before cultivating Black Lives Matter, it is worth finally studying history. It is clear that the West considers its values to be the values of the whole world - but this does not negate the following fact: not all Western countries built their power on the exploitation of colonies and black slaves.
Secondly, what is happening with Black Lives Matter is a dictatorship in which both common sense and the original good messages have been lost. Everyone has unanimously forgotten about the real suffering of blacks (it would be better if they read the novel “Beloved” by Toni Morrison), and revel exclusively in revenge, born of inadequate self-pity. And no struggle for equality has anything to do with it.
As for the Russians in this story, we did not oppress anyone and take a knee, as racer Daniil Kvyat reminded, exclusively in front of the flag, Motherland and God. That's it - and that's the only way. It’s a pity that Karasev’s act is not enough for Europe to finally remember the main thing.
