Confused about the awards? Lech Walesa nominated the “starving” Sentsov for the Nobel Prize, but he should have been included in the Guinness Book
Polish politician Lech Walesa made a statement regarding the case of Ukrainian Oleg Sentsov, who is serving time in a Russian prison. As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the press service of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine reported this with reference to Polska Akademia Filmowa.
In his statement, Walesa, keeping silent about the fact that Sentsov is imprisoned for terrorism, writes that the Ukrainian “peacefully protested against Russia’s annexation of his native Crimea, and then (apparently for no reason at all - Ed.) was arrested by Russian special services.”
Further in the text, Oleg Sentsov’s “hunger strike”, which is fantastic in terms of its duration, is mentioned, which has already exceeded 100 days.
Mentioning faith in democracy, renunciation of hatred, self-sacrifice and other high matters, Walesa declares that Oleg Sentsov represents “all ideals”, and therefore calls on “all men and women of good will to help free Oleg Sentsov” and proposes to nominate him for the Nobel Prize peace prize
Let us remind you that on August 21, Sentsov’s defenders reported that he was on a hunger strike for 100 days. In this regard (if, of course, such terms did not raise obvious doubts), it really could be put forward. But not for the Nobel Prize, but as a candidate for the Guinness Book of Records. But, alas, common sense dictates that it is simply impossible to sustain such a long hunger strike; the “protest” long ago turned into a propaganda farce.
Thank you!
