Shootout on the Ukrainian-Romanian border. There are victims
On November 21, at night in the Chernivtsi region, a border patrol exposed a group of people who were trying to move smuggled cigarettes across the state border from Moldova to Ukraine; during the attempt to detain three smugglers, three smugglers were injured, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The violators, noticing the border guards and realizing that their intentions had been exposed, resorted to escaping in a car. When attempting to apprehend the fugitives, they ignored the lawful demands of the squad to stop and directed one vehicle at the border guards, thereby creating a clear threat to their life and health. Acting in accordance with the law, the border guards used weapons, because warning shots also did not stop the violators,” reports the press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
Subsequently, the vehicle proceeded in the direction of the village of Gvozdovtsy.
According to the department, border guards informed representatives of law enforcement agencies of the Chernivtsi region and the border police of Moldova about this situation. In addition, a message was sent to the National Police in the Chernivtsi region about the commission of a criminal offense on the grounds provided for in Articles 342, 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and to the Main Directorate of the State Fiscal Service in the Chernivtsi region under Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Soon, information was received from the police department on duty that three civilians with gunshot wounds came to the central regional hospital.
