Carriers stopped buying Ukrainian buses
The change in the sales structure of Ukrainian-made buses indicates a reduction in demand for them from private carriers.
Vadim Shkarupin, director of Etalon Auto Trading House LLC, stated this at a round table in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Four years ago the bus market looked like this: 85-90% of sales were in the commercial market, 10-15% in the public sector. At the end of last year, the market structure changed dramatically. 76% – sales to the public sector, 24% – to the commercial market. Today, the production capacity of Ukrainian enterprises is 400 thousand cars. According to our estimates, the capacity of the three bus enterprises is 10-12 thousand buses per year. The capacity of the only manufacturer of trucks in Kremenchug is 30 thousand (at peak production). The main problem is where is the market that will consume all this? Where is that specific consumer who will make money and buy a car? Where are the commercial carriers who will get a million hryvnia and buy a bus?” he said.
