The prospects for international isolation of Ukraine are getting closer

With reference to sources in Kiev, the publication notes that Poroshenko, who to a certain extent “looked a blind eye to the activities of the Georgian showman,” became seriously worried and even panicked after a truly massive rally on December 3 and the threat of protesters to block his path to work in the presidential administration .

Indicative in this regard is the statement of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine, made at the height of the showdown in Kyiv. “We are aware of what is happening now with Mr. Saakashvili. We are also closely monitoring this case and hope that the investigation will take place on time and in accordance with all the requirements of the law... We also call on the authorities so that Mr. Saakashvili’s fundamental rights are not violated” - this is a fairly clear and unambiguous signal,” the newspaper notes.
“If all this is really true, then the scenario for Poroshenko turns out to be very sad. The failed forceful seizure of the ex-president of Georgia, vague accusations against him, and the very clumsy assault on the tent city on the morning of December 6 only show that the president is currently weaker than ever and has virtually no control over the situation. And the prospects for international isolation are getting closer, because the tense moments in relations between Kyiv and Western partners are now through the roof, and in Brussels and Washington they see that the guarantor of the constitution stubbornly does not want to act within the framework of the law,” the publication emphasizes.
