Zelensky’s first provocation: the SBU seized a Russian tanker
The SBU, together with the Military Prosecutor's Office, detained the Russian tanker "NEYMA", which in November last year blocked the passage under the Crimean Bridge at the moment when Ukrainian Navy boats, in violation of the rules, tried to pass through the Kerch Strait into the Sea of Azov.
The SBU explained that the tanker changed its name after the incident and today goes under the sign “NIKA SPIRIT”. Ukrainian security forces conducted a search on board and are preparing to arrest the ship, the SBU press service reported.
“On July 24, according to information from Ukrainian border guards, the tanker “NIKA SPIRIT” entered the port of Izmail under the flag of the Russian Federation, which, according to the IMO number – 8895528, according to the international information system EQUASIS, was identified as the already known tanker “NEYMA”, which was used to block the Kerch Strait.
Now a group of SBU investigators, military prosecutors and border guards on the detained tanker have completed investigative actions authorized by the Ukrainian court - a search to establish the factual circumstances of the case, seizure of documents from the vessel, recordings of radio conversations during the conflict, and logbooks.
Members of the trial team were interrogated, and documents necessary to establish the truth in the proceedings were confiscated. The specified vessel has been recognized as material evidence, and a petition to the court for its arrest is being prepared,” the statement says.
