This was reported by the press service of the GUMVD of Ukraine in Kyiv.
Near the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Kyiv, communists and veteran organizations gathered over a thousand Kiev residents for festive events.
“As of 11:20, several dozen young people, some of whom were wearing balaclavas, tried to provoke a fight with participants in the events. As a result of the prompt intervention of law enforcement officers, the conflict situation was resolved. For committing illegal actions, 15 young people were detained and taken to the police to clarify the circumstances of the crime,” the report notes.
Later, a video from Channel 17 appeared, depicting clashes between nationalists and participants in the May Day rally.
According to the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yulia Mustash, the nationalists provoked a conflict between the protesters. A group of young people in balaclavas tried to break through the police cordon towards a communist rally on the square in front of the WWII museum.
As Channel 17 reported, during the arrest, the police simply carried the thugs into the paddy wagons. In addition, the consequences of the use of tear gas were visible. According to eyewitnesses, arrests were also made on the basis that the person was wearing a balaclava. Some detainees are being held in a building near the WWII museum.
