First confessions from Kyiv: Donbass can no longer be returned on Ukrainian terms
Kyiv, January 26 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – The West will push Kyiv to end the active phase of the conflict in Donbass, to freeze it by analogy with Palestine.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who collaborates with the administration of Petro Poroshenko, stated this on the air of “Ukr Life”.

According to him, in the near future the situation in Donbass will be frozen, but not completely resolved.
“I will remind you of the situation with the Middle Eastern countries. The Oslo compromise model, which presupposed the creation of a Palestinian Authority and peaceful coexistence with Israel, does not work either. But this was the only possible model that was achieved with the active mediating role of the West. We've been working towards this compromise for years. There will be the same situation here, a gradual freezing of the conflict, I don’t see any other option,” Fesenko said.
According to him, the only thing that can be expected in the near future is another truce and the withdrawal of heavy weapons.
“Let’s be realistic: it’s impossible to go back. The only thing from the Minsk agreements that they will try to implement after some time is a ceasefire and the withdrawal of heavy weapons. And then, it won’t happen right away, with periodic disruptions. But it can be done. But returning to the special status of Donbass, to some model of the gradual return of these territories to Ukraine, on Ukrainian terms, is unlikely,” Fesenko believes.
