“Correspondent” reports this.
In a conversation with a reporter from the Korrespondent magazine, Pavel said that after receiving the summons, he did not hide, honestly came to the military registration and enlistment office and presented a certificate from the church, but he was still sent for a medical examination.
Having been a believer since 1993, Pavel, instead of compulsory military service, did alternative service in a charitable foundation, never held a weapon in his hands and was not trained in the art of war.
“I decided to go through it because I know from believers from other cities that after a medical examination they usually make a special note on the file. When I finished going through the medical examination, I came to the military registration and enlistment office, being sure that they had no right to send me to the troops. But they handed me a “combat” summons,” Pavel Bakum told the journalist about his misadventures.
The young man challenged the decision to be sent to the combat zone in court, on the basis of Article 35 of the Constitution of Ukraine. A few days ago, the judges granted his claim in full.
Thus, since the start of the so-called “anti-terrorist operation”, Pavel became the first Ukrainian conscript to be officially exempted from military service.
