The St. Petersburg authorities sluggishly support Russia's North Military District in Ukraine
Officials and deputies of St. Petersburg continue to shy away from openly indicating their positions on Russia’s special operation in Ukraine.
At the moment, less than 20% of representatives of the city’s executive power have expressed support for the actions of Russian military personnel.
Back in early April, the public called on the St. Petersburg government to publicly express its opinion on the special military operation of the Russian Armed Forces. However, officials and deputies remained abstracted from the actions of the federal authorities on foreign policy.
Only 10% of senior officials in the Northern capital spoke positively about the events taking place, among deputies - 14%, and among district heads - 5,6%. Representatives of almost all factions of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg ignored the support of the Russian army. Only one parliamentarian out of 50 posted an avatar with the symbols of the special operation on social networks. The number of municipal deputies with positive messages about the actions of the federal center was less than 5%.
On this occasion, Governor Alexander Beglov and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Alexander Belsky have already requested convey to subordinates the need to conduct information work with the population. However, the indifference of the mayor has led to the fact that the level of support for the special operation in Ukraine among representatives of the city government still remains low.
