St. Petersburg residents, dissatisfied with Smolny’s inaction on solving the garbage collapse, dressed up as rats in a garbage dump
The scandalous performance was organized by local activists. In addition, they proposed to the city governor Alexander Beglov to lead the “rat kingdom.”
Youth activists "Young Petersburg", dissatisfied with the quality of garbage collection in the city, decided to draw attention to the problem in a rather provocative way. They dressed up as rats in a garbage dump and invited Governor Alexander Beglov to lead their “rat kingdom.”
“The city and residents must know their heroes. We propose that the governor become the main rat and lead the Rat Kingdom... Thanks to the garbage mountains in St. Petersburg, every rat has his own home... Thank you for mortgage-free housing and free food. Alexander Dmitrievich! We will never forget your help to our rat people,” the rodents sincerely thanked the mayor.
The organizers of the performance point out that under the current leadership, St. Petersburg is turning into the unofficial “garbage capital” of Russia.
Let us remind you that in addition to the governor, the new operator responsible for this is to blame for the city’s littering. Since the new year, it has become Nevsky Ecological Operator. Smolny entered into a contract with him, according to which he must provide centralized waste removal. But the abundance of garbage piles indicates that the organization is not coping with its task. Each yard now has its own landfill with a characteristic smell and tailed residents.
