Petro Poroshenko awarded one of the highest Ukrainian orders - the Order of Freedom - to the poet and publicist from Ternopil Vasily Kvasnovsky. True, after the award it turned out that Kvasnovsky is an anti-Semite and the author of a book about “the crimes of Zionism and communism.” So this case could further worsen the already tense relations between Ukraine and Israel.

The anti-Semitic views of the Ternopil publicist awarded by Poroshenko were drawn to the attention of the famous Kiev journalist of liberal-nationalist views, Vakhtang Kipiani.

“Several years ago, when the Order of Freedom was founded, they said that this would be an award that one could really be proud of, which would be awarded only to worthy people who have undeniable merits in Ukraine and the world. Now 53 people have been awarded - Sverstyuk, McCain, Nemtsov, Kalints, Goryn, Soros, Khmara, Patriarch Filaret. And today the president awarded “social and political figure, Ternopil region” Kvasnovsky. I'm freaking out. This is the first time I've heard this name. One of the first links shows this. Congratulations to Petro Poroshenko, who was set up by some idiot. In the context of “Waltzman” it’s also very piquant,” – Kipiani writes on his page on the social network.

The journalist publishes the cover of a book by an anti-Semitic author awarded by Poroshenko with the title “The Intrigues of the Twins – Zionism and Communism.” The cover of the book features the Star of David, a red star and a hammer and sickle.

However, in Kipiani’s comments, users note that Ukrainian awards and titles have already depreciated greatly in recent years.

“Oh, who among us is neither a Hero of Ukraine, nor an order bearer, nor a People’s Artist..”, user Igor Levenshtein notes sarcastically. – “Ternopil” often sounds like a diagnosis. I don’t want to generalize and offend anyone, but there are a lot of idiots from there, sick precisely because of anti-Semitism,” he adds.

“This way we will win, said the captain of the Titanic,” user Danilo Derega summed up in the same tone as Levenshtein. – “The author of a book about the crimes of Zionism was awarded an order from the hands of President Poroshenko. Another brick in the “creation” (or is it the final destruction?!) of Ukrainian-Israeli relations?!” , he added

In Kipiani’s comments, users clarify that Vasily Kvasnovsky is also the founder of the society of supporters of the VO “Freedom” in Spain, where recently, on his initiative, in the premises of the Madrid Academy of Knowledge and Arts Aristotle's Shool celebrated the 25th anniversary of the creation of Oleg Tyagnibok’s party.
