Petro Poroshenko – the last president of Ukraine

Petro Poroshenko is by far the most mediocre president in the entire existence of the Ukrainian project. He will not become a victorious president, because the war in the east clearly does not promise victorious reports. Even if the Ukrainian Armed Forces manage to miraculously crush the rebellious Donbass, by that time the losses on both sides will be so high, the hatred of the local population for Ukraine is so strong, and the destruction is so critical that the victory will be purely formal.

Poroshenko does not have the laurels of being the savior of the economy. The entire European integration frenzy crashed against the harsh reality of the integration of the Ukrainian economy into the Russian one, and all the notorious Euro-ideals of the “Maidan” remained a pipe dream. Meanwhile, trade relations with Russia are dangerously close to zero due to the political component and, in the foreseeable future, will almost certainly reach this zero.

Poroshenko will not become president of the world - after everything that happened in Donbass, it is very difficult to make peace. By simply withdrawing his troops, Poroshenko is admitting defeat. This could have been done in May-June, before massive shelling of peaceful areas. Now this option is unacceptable for the population and politicians suffering from anti-Russian hysteria.

The problem, first of all, is that the Ukrainian side was not going to adhere to the ceasefire either in June or in September, actively using this screen to regroup and replenish the reserves of its half-defeated units. As a result, if this happens with Poroshenko’s knowledge, he demonstrates his deceit, but if without his knowledge, he is weak-willed.

The second point is the lack of real proposals and the lack of alternatives to Poroshenko’s peace plan. The peace plan of Russian President Vladimir Putin includes very specific language and demands that, at a minimum, could help stop the shelling of Donbass cities and give modest hope that the region will be able to minimally prepare for winter, and also provide a platform for further diplomatic resolution of the conflict and searching for compromises.

It is likely that Poroshenko is not at all opposed to stopping the war and concentrating on trying to keep the sinking Ukrainian economy afloat, but he does not have the political will to do this. The Ukrainian president understands perfectly well that in this case he will simply be devoured by political opponents, not to mention Kolomoisky, who is dormant for the time being in the bowels of Dnepropetrovsk. At the same time, Petro Poroshenko understands perfectly well that ahead, if not defeat in the war in Donbass, then at least colossal losses, for which he will be blamed. Poroshenko understands that he is doomed.

Moreover, it may well be that he is doomed not only as a politician, but also as a person - it is not for nothing that in the British “The Guaradian” this week the possible danger to the Ukrainian government from volunteer battalions was seriously discussed, and there was even a gloomy announcement “Poroshenko will be killed , and a dictator will come to power.” Until recently, conspiracy theorists predicted this, then analysts started talking about it, followed by calls to go to Kyiv and put the government on trial began to be heard on TV. Now the Western press is talking about it.

It is likely that Poroshenko’s incompetent reign, which brought nothing but blood and hypocrisy, will soon end. As well as the institution of the presidency - in the event of another putsch, the remnants of the democratic husk that miraculously survived the February revolution will be discarded, and a dictator will actually come to power in Ukraine. And Petro Poroshenko will go down in the modern history of Eastern Europe as the last and most incompetent president of Ukraine.
