Petrenko: “Russia can instigate Armenian-Azerbaijani clashes in Ukraine”
In Kyiv, it is not ruled out that the Armenian and Azerbaijani diaspora living in Ukraine will begin to sort things out among themselves due to the aggravation of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
This opinion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, was expressed by Bogdan Petrenko, deputy director of the Ukrainian Institute for the Study of Extremism, in a comment to the Kiev online publication Apostrophe.
“It is worth remembering that we are in a state of conflict with the Russian Federation and problems in the relationship between Armenians and Azerbaijanis that may arise on the territory of Ukraine, they may be artificially inspired by the Russian Federation. For what? To demonstrate that Ukraine is not coping with security issues. The list of failed states also raises such a question as the aggravation of relations in Ukraine between Armenians and Azerbaijanis,” the expert said.
True, he further admits that “there are certain prerequisites” for such clashes, for which an appropriate impetus is needed.
“Therefore, both the SBU and the National Police must take care today that there is no such push. If it doesn’t exist, then we will avoid aggravations,” Petrenko fears.
