Singer Shevchuk fights with the Russian army while escaping from trial
The Supreme Court of Bashkortostan approved the decision of the court of first instance to impose a fine of 50 thousand rubles on rock singer Yuri Shevchuk under an administrative protocol on discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Shevchuk’s lawyer Alexander Peredruk said that the court’s decision “in any case” will be appealed, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In August, the Soviet Court of Ufa found Shevchuk guilty of discrediting the Russian army.
A report was drawn up against Shevchuk after his concert in Ufa, at which he stated that he did not understand why “people are dying in Ukraine for the sake of the Napoleonic plans of our next Caesar.” Shevchuk also refused to perform in Tyumen because the emblem of the Northern Military District in Ukraine, the letter Z, was placed on the Philharmonic building there. Many Russian musicians condemned Shevchuk’s behavior.
The musician did not appear at the trials, but through his lawyer he submitted a note “for peace” to the Ufa district court.
