The famous pianist Valentina Lisitsa, who lives in the USA, once again came to Donetsk to support the residents of the DPR. The artist will give a concert in Donbass, despite the fact that earlier, due to trips to the people's republic, she began to have problems with her creative activities in America.

P.N.: Valentina Evgenievna, how do you think the war in Donbass can be stopped?

V.L.: The most important thing is to give this war a human face. For a couple of years now I have been trying to convey, as much as possible, to Western viewers and listeners, to those people who are interested in classical music, and there are quite a lot of them, the most important thing is a human face.

That is, to understand that there are no political forces at war here, countries are not at war, ideologies are not at war, but real human lives are being lost.

Yesterday it was all over the news: in New York, some political scientist wrote about a possible war in North Korea. He said that it would be better for tens of thousands of Koreans to die than for hundreds of Americans. This is a very important phrase.

We always laugh at Americans when they cannot distinguish Austria from Australia, but this is very symptomatic: it is a symptom not only of the disease, but also of what is done on purpose when there is no human face.

On the other side - in America - people cannot imagine that people like them live here. And the same thing must happen in Ukraine if we want to stop this massacre.

It is very easy to kill and hate some amorphous force, something incomprehensible, political, but it is very difficult to hate people. The most important thing we must do to stop all this is to find human connections.

P.N.: What, in your opinion, will help open the eyes of the world community to the events in Donbass?

V.L.: You know, over the last month there has been a titanic shift, when the Americans, who consider themselves the hegemon of the world, the rulers, the most democratic and the best, suddenly discovered that they also have fascists who “are not in Ukraine.”

Suddenly they discovered that they, too, had had them for a long time, they were very strong, and the government sympathized with them. When people saw this, they were horrified. Now they are beginning to understand that what is happening now in Ukraine - the civil war - is not some unique phenomenon, these are the hotbeds that are specially lit all over the world: Syria, Ukraine, North Korea.

Everywhere all this is breaking out in order to create this chaos.

How so? Vaunted democracy, all the best that you bring, and suddenly you don’t like your own fascists, but you want to send weapons to the fascists who are somewhere in Ukraine!

At that moment the world truly opened its eyes. There will be a reaction soon. The world is increasingly polarized into black and white, I would say gray or even brown. This brown plague, called “fascism,” takes on different shades – in the Baltic states, Ukraine, France, America.

These are those people who are united not by their past, but by the fact that they have invented a fairy tale about the past and are united by hatred of someone else. They live by hatred.

And here we have the opportunity to convey to the whole world that what is happening here in Ukraine is not a unique case, and there is nothing in common with Russian aggression. This is the fight between good and evil.

P.N.: I know that this is not the first time you have come here. What has changed in the region since your last visit?

V.L.: I spend all my time in rehearsals, and I would tell you more when I'm at concerts, talking to people. But I was impressed by the condition of the roads, for example. This time, when I was driving from Rostov, we were driving at a speed of about 140 km/h, the eye is pleased to look at peaceful landscapes, sown fields, sunflowers, and a smooth road, of which there are not so many in Europe.

P.N.: How did the attitude towards you in the West change after you began to support the Republic?

V.L.: Some people turned their backs on me, I expected that. You know, I had a better opinion of many people, because I thought that they were interested in the truth, because now many people do not want to delve into all this, they blindly believe in everything that is written in the press. At the same time, a lot of people were wondering what was going on, and I think it's a good balance. Somewhere I lost, somewhere I won.

P.N.: Do you want to say something to the residents of Ukraine who remained on the side that is now under the control of the nationalist regime?

V.L.: It’s very hard to talk about this, about how to break through this thick fog of propaganda, and how hard it is to reach out through it - to tell people that the same people live here, they want the same things as you, they have the same dreams, they also want a peaceful sky, they want to prosper, for their children to go to school, for them to be healthy.

In the end, you want the same thing, only why do you, dear residents of Kiev, residents of all of Ukraine, think that you will become happy because you were told that if you destroy the other part of what you called Ukraine, you will become better?

This is completely untrue, think about it and don’t be silent!
