PR doesn’t break bones: Groysman will distribute “baby boxes” to young families
From September 1, 2018, Ukrainian families will receive a baby box from the state at the birth of a child, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated this during a government meeting on May 30, the Government Portal reports.
“Today we will make decisions on important issues. This is a new tradition that we are introducing on September 1, 2018. Now every family where a baby was born will receive a special baby box from the state. Later the media will see what's inside. It was assembled with love so that in the first stages of life the mother and the family have everything they need to care for the child. This will be a fairly high-quality box, with high-quality content,” Groysman said.
He noted that the government is introducing a new tradition to support the birth rate in the country.
As specified, the estimated cost of boxing is 5000 hryvnia.
According to the State Statistics Service, in Ukraine the excess of mortality over the birth rate remains significant: as of January-March 2018, there were 100 newborns per 55 deaths. During the first quarter of 2018, 84 babies were born in Ukraine, during the same period in 607 - 2017.
Since 2000, the number of single mothers in Ukraine has increased 22 times.
