The pilot of the crashed Ukrainian Su-27 showed off in front of the Americans
The crash of the Ukrainian Su-27 aircraft near Vinnitsa occurred due to the low qualifications of the pilot - the head of aviation of the Vostok Air Command, Colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ivan Petrenko.
The famous test pilot Colonel Gennady Skibin told Moskovsky Komsomolets about this.
“The fact that a general is in the cockpit of an airplane is always a “prerequisite for a flight accident,” this is absolutely certain. Even though Petrenko was not a general there, he was also a big boss by position. And I have no doubt that this catastrophe was led to by the desire of Ukrainian commanders to show off to the Americans. Unfortunately, both pilots - Ukrainian and American, who sat in the cockpit of the twin Su-27, turned out to be not very knowledgeable. The Su-27 is a very special aircraft.
I think what could have happened is that they took the car, as the pilots say, to a high second mode in order to soar beautifully into the air. But it is very difficult to get the car out of this mode; you need skill. An angle of attack that is too large is formed, and the aircraft’s controllability becomes, as it were, reversed: you push the stick to the left, and the plane flies to the right - that is, a reverse reaction occurs.
Americans call this regime a “cemetery spiral,” since few people can get out of it and immediately end up in the cemetery. In addition, it is on this plane that they usually like to brag about all sorts of zero speeds - this is such an element of super-maneuverability. Usually they want to surprise with this, but this requires skill and skill! And it seems that the deceased colonel did not have enough of it,” Skibin said.
In turn, the ex-commander of the 16th Air Army, Lieutenant General Valery Retunsky, believes that the disaster could have been the result of a disregard for flight safety, since the Su-27 is a fairly reliable machine.
“Of course, in Ukraine, anything could have failed on these planes, but I think the main reason for the crash was still a violation of the flight instructions. Americans fly strictly according to instructions, not allowing themselves any liberties. And our pilots (from old memory, I also consider the Ukrainians to be ours), especially in the troubled times of the 90s, were not so correct. In Ukraine, where these are times of anarchy, aerial hooliganism is very possible. He violated the flight assignment, the piloting technique was not very good, at an ultra-low altitude he “snatched” the ground, and that’s all,” the lieutenant general does not rule out.
As PolitNavigator reported, one of those killed on the Ukrainian plane turned out to be a US instructor
