Russians have always been a privileged social stratum in Ukraine, so they should be the first to go to fight in Donbass. Ukrainian writer Vasil Shklyar stated this on the Ternopil TV channel.

“Why shouldn’t a Russian-speaking patriot fight for Ukraine, where he lived more comfortably with the Russian language than with Ukrainian-speaking people? I'm not talking about you and me, but about the gray mass. In a campaign where there are 5 Ukrainians and one Katsap, the Ukrainians will switch to Russian. At the same time, he believes that there should be no Russian-speaking patriots in Ukraine; they will disappear when a new generation comes.
“Russian-speaking patriot is nonsense, an absolutely absurd term. A true patriot will never have such a barrier: I can do without this language. The biggest problem with Ukraine is that it can do without the Ukrainian language. Look, the Minister of Internal Affairs speaks Russian. A true Russian-speaking patriot should be proud that his children are studying the Ukrainian language and will know it better,” Shklyar said.
