The notorious nationalist writer Larisa Nitsoi stated this on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada.

According to her, the Russian language falls outside the protection of the European Charter.

“The European Charter states that the development of languages of national minorities occurs within the framework of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. What does it mean? If the development of a minority language negatively affects the territorial integrity of Ukraine, which is what we have, then such a language of a national minority puts itself outside the scope of this European act,” Nitsoi said and emphasized that Ukraine must stop any funding for the development of the Russian language.

The writer also called on parliamentarians to create a new language law, in which only those languages whose speakers do not have their own statehood will have the right to state support:

“We are guided by European acts, our Constitution, write the right laws, be sure to remember about our indigenous peoples - the Crimean Tatars, Gagauz, Krymchaks, Karaites and do not compare them with the languages of other national minorities who have their own countries in the neighborhood and where their language is protected at the state level. We remember that the free development of languages of national minorities in Ukraine can in no way narrow the use of the Ukrainian language in all spheres of Ukrainian life,” she says.
