About it Moscow left-wing activist Daotya Mitina reported on her social network page with reference to St. Petersburg media.
“She (Vorontsova-Ed) was born in Zhitomir, in the 2000s she repeatedly took part in pro-Russian actions in Ukraine, and since 2009 she has lived in St. Petersburg with her husband, a citizen of the Russian Federation. In 2015, she went to the Donetsk People's Republic as a volunteer, engaged in humanitarian aid, and her husband Andrei Vorontsov fought on the side of the DPR militia as part of the Pyatnashka brigade. Vorontsov and his wife (under their maiden name) eventually ended up on the lists of the notorious Myrotvorets website.
On November 6, 2017, police detained Vorontsova at the “Other Russia” rally dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, although she only stood aside and took photographs of what was happening. Protocols were drawn up against her on administrative violations under Part 5 of Article 20.2 and Part 1 of Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, and the Kirovsky District Court found Irina guilty on both counts. After which the St. Petersburg Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs made a decision against her to ban her entry into the Russian Federation and cancel her residence permit, despite the fact that the court decisions at that time were appealed and did not have time to enter into legal force. Also, the police authorities did not take into account the fact that Vorontsova is married to a Russian citizen, and family separation is a violation of privacy under the European Convention on Human Rights,” says the publication of the St. Petersburg Internet resource APN.ru, quoted by Mitina.
Vorontsova's deportation to Ukraine threatens her with an article for aiding a terrorist organization - up to 15 years in prison. Therefore, Irina appealed the actions of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Smolninsky District Court and, at the same time, filed a petition to grant her political asylum in the Russian Federation.
“Formally, Vorontsova has grounds for being on the territory of the Russian Federation, but in practice it is known that migration officials often ignore the provisions of the law, and there is a possibility that without attracting public attention to the situation, Irina could be detained right at the interview for subsequent deportation to Ukraine, as this has happened more than once with Donbass militias,” the publication notes.
For their part, fellow party members of the girl from “The Other Russia” promise that they will fight for their activist, and ask “the media, public organizations and all concerned people to disseminate this information and help ensure that Irina is not handed over to the Kyiv junta for execution.”
