Beer saves Russia from terrorists
The pro-government segment of the Russian Internet space is the lowest in the world. The director of the Institute of Political Studies, Sergei Markov, stated this at a press conference in Moscow.
“The pro-government segment of the Runet, according to Harvard University, is one of the smallest in the world. Even George Bush had more,” Markov said.
In his opinion, this poses a danger to the security of the country, since modern terrorists actively use the Internet, and in particular, social networks. He cited the recent terrorist attack in Nice as an example. “The terrorist received an ideology and specific instructions through social networks. In Russia, there is a de-ideologization of society, and this is a dangerous situation,” Markov said.
The expert believes that so far the country is being saved only by the laziness of opposition-minded social network users. “On our social networks, every tenth person is crazy. It is not the work of the special services that keeps them away from a terrorist attack, but their own laziness. It’s more pleasant for them to drink beer,” Markov said.
