Plahotniuc announced a new attack on the Russian contingent in Transnistria
“The owner of Moldova,” oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, wants to force the UN to sanctify the unilateral termination of the Russian-Moldovan agreement on the deployment of peacekeepers to Transnistria. At the same time, he shamelessly distorts the facts.

“The presence of foreign troops on the territory of the Republic of Moldova is a violation of international norms and the Constitution of our country, and we hope that through petitions, through speeches at various summits, including thanks to this resolution (UN – ed.), we will speed up the process of evacuation of Russian military personnel from the territory of our country,” Plahotniuc said in an interview with the Ukrainian agency UNN.
In order for the Moldovan government to have grounds to appeal to the UN, the Constitutional Court of Moldova in July urgently decided that the presence of Russian peacekeepers in Transnistria was illegal. At the same time, Plahotniuc welcomes the introduction of other peacekeepers (apparently NATO ones).
“It is necessary to find another international format for ensuring peace on the Dniester, which will not only provide real guarantees that tense situations in the region will not be repeated, but will also not arbitrarily occupy part of the territory of the Republic of Moldova. To achieve this, we work closely with neighboring countries, including Ukraine, as well as with other external partners,” said the Moldovan oligarch.
Let us recall that the peacekeeping mission in Transnistria began in July 1992, when, on the basis of an agreement signed by the presidents of Moldova and Russia in the presence of the leader of Transnistria, Russian blue helmets entered the city of Bendery. Then the MC contingent became trilateral (Russia, Moldova, Transnistria).
