Plahotniuc transfers millions of cash from Ukraine to Moldova
Criminal oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, who fled Moldova, continues to influence the situation in the country through Ukraine. From there, huge amounts of cash are imported and used to bribe Moldovan politicians and officials.
Businessman Vyacheslav Platon, who was released from prison yesterday, stated this on the Moldovan TV channel TV8, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The cash flows that are used today to bribe deputies, the political establishment, the judiciary, and law enforcement agencies must be stopped. I just know who it’s going through – Andrey Timothy. He lives in Ukraine, not far away, and ensures cash flow. Here it is received by lawyers, mediators, and deputies. We are talking about millions,” Platon said.
Over the past month, the size of the ruling coalition in the Moldovan parliament has decreased from 59 to 51 deputies. It is believed that Plahotniuc is buying up parliamentarians, and the stakes are rising: the last deputy left the coalition for allegedly more than a million dollars.
