Plahotniuc surrendered to America
The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), owned by oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc, gives up power and its government resigns.
The deputy chairman of the party, Vladimir Chebotar, stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In conditions where there is no possibility of dialogue with parties, in order to get out of the political crisis, the PDM decided to leave the government by resignation. This is the only legal way to resolve the situation from a legal point of view. Today the Prime Minister and all other ministers will resign. Our decision is aimed exclusively at resolving the political crisis,” Cebotari said.
At the same time, he called the coalition created in parliament and the government formed by it illegal, so the PDM will continue to insist on holding early elections.
Chebotar emphasized that the resignation of the government will not solve the problem of blocking the work of government agencies. He did not explain what kind of blockade he meant: police officers or grandmothers sleeping under the government in tents for $25. In any case, both of them left immediately after the capitulation of the Democrats.
An unexpected outcome was possible after a visit to the office of the Democratic Party by US Ambassador to Moldova Derek Hogan. He was there for 15 minutes, after which he left.
Previously, the European Union and Russia unanimously supported the new anti-oligarchic coalition and the government of Maia Sandu.
