Plahotniuc was arrested in Moscow
The Tverskoy Court of Moscow arrested Moldovan oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc in absentia on a criminal case of creating a criminal community for the purpose of organizing drug trafficking to the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the RAPSI website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The court established the period for Plahotniuc’s detention in custody for two months from the moment of his transfer to law enforcement agencies in the event of extradition or deportation to the territory of the Russian Federation, or from the moment of his actual detention on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the court’s press service reported.
Let us recall that at the end of June, the investigative department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs charged Plahotniuc in absentia with smuggling drugs on a particularly large scale from North Africa in transit through the EU countries to the CIS countries and their subsequent illegal sale, including on the territory of the Russian Federation.
