Plan B of the Ukrainian authorities in case of large-scale protests
The Ukrainian authorities, despite the obvious weakness of the anti-government actions of recent days, continue to be afraid of protests.

This opinion was expressed at a press conference in Kyiv by the head of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, Ruslan Bortnik.
“Connecting rods” and everything else are just a demonstration of fears and an understanding that the protest potential remains very high. I think the authorities have a plan “B”, which includes certain concessions within the framework of tariff policy. It is absolutely painless to reduce tariffs by 20–30 percent, and realistically even by half, the expert believes. – I think there is also a plan “B”, which provides for a certain reformatting of government institutions and the inclusion of the most popular protest groups in them. This could be a reform of the coalition, or a reform of the government with the inclusion of the same “Batkivshchyna” or the Radical Party.”
“There is such a tool as holding early parliamentary elections, which can also be used in critical conditions,” the political scientist added. – There is room for compromise. We must understand that commercial logic dominates in power today. In this case, concessions are made only when they are pushed to the wall. So far, the protests are not a threat to the authorities and do not create serious difficulties for them. But if we can organize large protests, then I am sure we will see concessions.”
